What Is a Shaman?
Honouring Orion’s Lineage & Our Role in Victoria
🌿 The Ancient Role of the Shaman
When most people think of a shaman, they imagine someone with mystical powers, able to communicate with spirits and heal deep wounds. While partially true, this image barely touches the depth of what it means to walk a shamanic path.
A shaman is a bridge — between the visible and invisible, the living and the dead, the individual and the collective. They are healers, wisdom keepers, and spiritual midwives, called to serve the balance of all life.
🔥 Orion: A True Shaman and Teacher
Our teacher, Orion, is a fully initiated shaman trained in both Aboriginal Australian and Native American traditions. He is the founder of Truth and Power and holds lineage through the Spirit of the Earth Medicine Society.
Orion's work includes:
Deep trauma healing through his Emergence Programs
Spiritual ceremonies and soul retrieval
Amazonian plant medicine retreats (including Ayahuasca and San Pedro)
One-on-one shamanic sessions and mentorship
Books, writings, and teachings that keep the lineage alive
He does not teach from theory — he transmits from experience, initiation, and presence. Through him, we received not just knowledge, but a living field of wisdom.
🌀 What Does a Shaman Do?
Across cultures and traditions, the role of a shaman includes:
Entering altered states (through drumming, breath, or ceremony)
Journeying to spirit realms for healing or guidance
Retrieving lost soul parts from trauma or death
Healing spiritual, emotional, and energetic imbalances
Escorting souls of the dead and restoring ancestral harmony
Balancing human and nature realms, often through ritual
Unlike a therapist or healer, a shaman operates in a field of sacred relationship — with spirit, with ancestors, and with the Earth herself.
🙏 Our Role: Holding the Lineage
We — Wayama and PahPah — completed our training under Orion over a 12-month initiation. This was not a course. It was a transformation.
We now offer shamanic healing sessions and retreats in Stawell, Victoria, grounded in the principles and living lineage passed on by Orion.
While we are not shamans ourselves, we are honoured practitioners of this field — vessels through which Spirit may work.
Our work includes:
One-on-one trauma-informed shamanic sessions
Deep ceremonial space-holding
Retreats that honour Spirit and Earth
Integration of ancient wisdom into daily life
🌟 Why Lineage Matters
In today’s world, anyone can claim to be a shaman. But true shamanism is not self-appointed — it is passed on through Spirit, elders, and tradition.
Orion carries that tradition. We honour him as the one who opened the door for us.
Through him, we now walk a path that is guided, held, and continually unfolding.
👣 If You’re Feeling the Call…
Shamanic work is not for everyone. It’s not always gentle, easy, or comfortable. It’s real.
But if you feel the call — the pull toward something older than language, wiser than books, and deeper than the surface — then we welcome you.
Our work in Victoria is here for those ready to:
Heal beyond the mind
Awaken the spirit
Reconnect with their essence
Honour the land and the lineages that hold us
💬 Final Words
A shaman is not just a healer. A shaman is a bridge, a witness, and a vessel for Spirit.
We give thanks to Orion — our teacher, our initiator, our elder in this sacred field. And we walk with the integrity and depth that his lineage demands.
